The would-be Napolean Vince Desmond is refusing to discuss having CQI and IRCA issue a formal denunciation against racism in the UK, all because he’s in a snit about the “tone” of the request.
Here’s the email, you can judge the tone for yourself:
Let’s just take a second and parse that. Desmond, a very-white guy, won’t commit to denouncing racism because I didn’t ask him politely enough. This is how racism thrives in countries like the UK. Powerful white men refusing to discuss the issue because they feel their egos have been injured just by asking the question.
As they say, “when you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.” Desmond just opened a master class in this.
Presuming that he deserves some kind of special treatment when approaching him, he then cuts off all communications about … well, everything. Mind you, this is the third time Desmond has done this, and he keeps replying to every email I send him, because he’s a fucking puppet.
FYI, Desmond oversees both the CQI and IRCA, the body that certifies ISO 9001 auditors. This does not add confidence into either organization, but the CQI we can at least dismiss as a cult. The IRCA certifications are allegedly granted to auditors to qualify them to work for certification bodies. If Desmond is a full-on racist, then it’s valid to start asking questions about how they are administering their auditor certifications.
Meanwhile, this CQI idiot is saying this racist thing, presumably with Desmond’s blessing now.
Maybe it’s time to burn your IRCA card? Every CB who demands IRCA certification for their auditors is now supporting this racist garbage.
Those of you thinking you’re exhausted of reading about racism (and shame on you) should just follow this out a bit further. If Desmond won’t do the easiest thing in the world right now — denounce racism — then it’s unlikely he will listen to any other stakeholder issues, either.
Remember, CQI was pushing ahead with in-person events and meetings, until Oxebridge’s reporting humiliated them into adopting a common-sense switch to virtual meetings, weeks after other organizations had already done so. Desmond was apparently willing to allow CQI members and the public to get sick up until that point. Our reporting led one key meeting speaker to contact CQI to demand the events be switched, and they were.
Meanwhile, Desmond and the CQI are still under investigation for allowing some folks to falsely claim the CQI is an official UK accreditation body for higher learning institutions, something they are very much not. This, as a result, appears to be full-on fraud. Desmond is refusing to check into this claim, too, asserting (again) he didn’t like my tone. The thing is, he doesn’t get to allow fraud to go on because he doesn’t like the tone of the guy reporting it to him. Fraud is fraud. CQI is not an educational accreditation body, and Desmond is only delaying things by refusing to investigate.
Clearly, under Desmond’s tyrannical leadership, CQI and IRCA are off the rails and headed for very serious problems.
As they say in the UK, what a bellend.
