It’s been three weeks since the full list of US TAG 176 members was published for the public, and surprisingly, the continents did not up-heave, the sun didn’t fall into the ocean, and Cthulhu did not rise from His deathly slumber to consume the souls of Man.
In fact, the net effect has been a big bag o’ nothing, other than we now have a public list of those who are responsible for ISO 9001:2015 (in the US anyway) and have an idea of who is formulating the official positions of the United States on our behalf. This comes, of course, after the TAG leadership had attempted to keep the identify of its official representatives a secret from the public and US industries they are tasked with serving.
The only excuse given by the TAG to date has been that they don’t want the membership roster being used for spam mail, but that doesn’t explain why they removed the entire list, nor why they made it unavailable for viewing even by other members. If spam was the only issue, they could have simply redacted the email addresses in the list; but instead, they deleted the entire thing.
What’s more likely, and in keeping with the paranoid leadership of Jarvis, West and Hunt, is they simply don’t feel they owe the American people anything, and certainly don’t feel an obligation to be held accountable to them.
Worse still, the TAG leadership is resisting calls to put the list back, waiting on an official complaint (issued by yours truly) before they take any action. So every day they wait for that complaint, they are willfully hiding the membership from the public, and can no longer feign ignorance. It’s like Alka Jarvis is giving ANSI CEO Joe Bhatia a black eye every morning. Amazing.
Meanwhile, neither the TAG nor ANSI have taken action on the allegations that the leadership election was fraudulent, and that incoming Chair Paul Palmes may have lied on his resume in order to get the job. Privately, there is some activity behind the scenes, but sources say it’s more about “how do we cover our asses” rather than an honest appraisal of what went wrong, and how to fix it. They certainly have not been open to holding new elections, as called for by Oxebridge.
To see the full member list, as of September anyway, click here. Some new members have been added since then, but they will benefit from complete and total secrecy, which apparently Alka Jarvis thinks is a good thing. Cthulhu approves.
