If you needed any more evidence that the ISO certification community has been infected by a bunch of lunatics posing a sudden experts in risk management, look no further than our old friend Greg Hutchins and his always hilarious CERM Academy newsletter.

This month he’s running these headlines and then spamming every LinkedIn page and email address he can find with them:

cermcrazy

That’s right: our self-proclaimed expert on “the future of quality” and risk management is promoting his sciences by running articles that claim “Your Birth Month Indicates Your Risk of Disease.”

Even the article it links to knows the headline is bullshit.

“It’s important not to get overly nervous about these results because even though we found significant associations the overall disease risk is not that great,” Tatonetti said. “The risk related to birth month is relatively minor when compared to more influential variables like diet and exercise.”

So what would Hutchins have us do with this information? What would the proper risk mitigation be? Our parents should only have sex on certain months to avoid giving birth in months that increase risk of disease?

Then of course, he links to the HuffPo article on “13 Things Women In Their 30s Want All Women In Their 20s To Know” which includes such formal risk treatment as “get rid of your skinny jeans” and “don’t judge older women for spending money on eye cream.”

If the future of quality is risk, then clearly the future of risk is batshit crazy.
