Winter Haven FL — Work on the upcoming ISO 9001 guidance book by Christopher Paris, tentatively called ISO 9001 For Dummies, continues and should be made available on this website shortly.
The book, whose title may have to be changed if a publishing arrangement with the “For Dummies” publishing house is not finalized, seeks to put ISO 9001 implementation into plain English, using the methods devised by Oxebridge for its Rapid ISO 9001 Implementation Program, which has seen over 200 companies implement ISO 9001 with as few as 40 days of work.
A Spanish language version is also planned.
Key areas of the book focus on diluting the process approach requirements into easy-to-understand language, as well as how to implement each of the ISO 9001 clauses, including the more complicated areas of corrective and preventive action, management reviews and internal auditing. The final book will include sample Quality Manuals and procedures, example forms, and best practices for gathering improvement data and quality objectives metrics.
Christopher Paris, Oxebridge’s founder and VP Operations, has 21 years experience working with ISO 9001, having implemented his first ISO 9001 system in 1989 for The Mearl Corporation (now BASF). Mr. Paris worked for one other company after Mearl, and then in 1999 founded Oxebridge based on his ten years of experience as an actual ISO9001 end user, using that experience to build Oxebridge’s famous and radically different “Rapid” implementation approaches for both ISO 9001 and AS9100 for aerospace. Mr. Paris has personally overseen the implementation, from start to finish, of over 150 comapanies; this does not include other clients who have hired Mr. Paris for services other than full implementation, such as contract auditing, simple training or other consulting tasks.
Mr. Paris served on the US TAG to TC 176, the body which represents the USA to ISO for the authoring of the ISO 9000 family of standards, and has been published in a number of quality and manufacturing magazines and journals, discussing his different view of ISO 9001 which is always end-user-focused, and which is unapologetically critical of the registration and accreditation hierarchy. Mr. Paris has written numerous articles showing how registrars and accreditors have failed to take into account the real world, end-user needs related to ISO 9001, and continues to hold these bodies accountable to the international rules and standards governing the deployment and management of ISO 9001 worldwide.
