Over at the LetsPlow forum for the snow and ice management industry, the supporters of the American Snow Contractors Association (ASCA) have resorted to racist hate speech in order to defend ASCA Executive Director Kevin Gilbride and the SN9001 debacle.
I reposted my recent article Let it Go… SN9001 is Dead on the forum, since it had been instrumental back in 2013 when I was launching the SN9001 investigations. Thinking I would update the readers there, I was instead hit with an immediate mini-flood of insults, attacks and even this sexist, racist gem from user Jmac of Ohio:
The argument being made by the klansmen ASCA members at LetsPlow is that I have no business telling them that SN9001 was a doomed project, since I don’t work in the snow and ice industry. This is not a criticism they ever leveled against Gilbride — whose experience is in publishing — nor against Smithers’ Jeanette Preston or ANAB’s Scott Richter, neither of whom have any snow management experience.
Curiously, none of the bigots ASCA members are actually SN9001 certified themselves, meaning their entire effort in defending Gilbride and ASCA is just for the purposes of trolling. I guess.
The thread is pretty interesting, especially the way the contributors routinely insult their own industry. If that’s an indication of the typical ASCA membership, then it’s no wonder they were seen as such ripe pickings for the SN9001 scam.
Will Kevin Gilbride condemn such statements? He’s certainly vocal when accepting the praises of the site. We’ll see.
In the mean time, we hear ASCA is working on a way to use burning crosses to clear snow from front lawns.
UPDATE 24 April: Last night, the LetsPlow thread showed it was being “browsed by” a member called ASCAEXEC. That happens to the be the account used by Kevin Gilbride. This means that Gilbride has read the racist posts and has, so far, not commented on them, nor requested that they be removed. Remember, when he was being praised, Gilbride chimed in rather quickly. He’s less quick to condemn racist comments denigrating Asian women.
Also note how the ASCA-led owners of the LetsPlow site edited the thread with the tag “narcissism.” Cute.
