River Falls WI — Freeman Drug of River Falls WI and Micklesen Drug of Hudson WI received CMS accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare (ACHC) for their operations involved in the sale and servicing of durable medical equipment (DME).

New Federal regulations require DME providers, many of whom are also pharmacies, to achieve third-party accreditation to standards published by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in order to continue to bill Medicare.

Oxebridge launched its CMS Accreditation Preparation services program in 2007, and has since helped over a dozen companies throughout the country meet the accreditation requirements. Oxebridge runs a separate website — www.cmsaccreditation.com — for these services. Whereas typical competing consultants charge from $10,000 to $20,000 for consulting services, Oxebridge’s offsite option runs at about $3,000 and can ready the DME company for third party auditing by ACHC in only a few months.

The Freeman and Micklesen pharmacies teamed up in a combined effort, allowing Oxebridge to implement both systems simultaneously, further saving the companies money.

Both pharmacies offer DME products such as walkers, wheelchairs, commodes, diabetic shoes and other home health products.

Why we report on these topics

Since 2000, Oxebridge has worked to improve ISO and related certification schemes by identifying problems and then proposing solutions. We report on issues affecting standards users because so few other news outlets do. Our belief is that in order to fix the problems in these schemes, we must first understand the nature and breadth of those problems. Our reporting aims to do just that. Elsewhere on the Oxebridge site you will find White Papers and other articles proposing ideas to correct these problems.
