Coming on the heels of its announcement that CMMC third party certification is temporarily suspended, a move thought by many to be the beginning of a full cancellation of the program, the Dept. of War has now scrubbed all result for “CMMC” from key official websites.
On the Dept. of War home site, a search for “CMMC” shows no results, as of 16 July 2026:
The management of the CMMC program was transferred to the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), but that department’s website also shows “no results found for CMMC.”
Existing content on CMMC still remains, but the links must be entered manually. This means that the DoW has not deleted all references to CMMC, but simply — and curiously — removed it from search. The CIO’s site still has a menu option for CMMC content, for example.
It is not clear if this an intentional cleansing of CMMC links or simply a technical error on behalf of the DoW.
