Phoenix AZ — Aerospace manufacturer RaeTech, Inc. has been recommended for AS9100 certification by AQA International, an accredited registrar of aerospace quality management systems.

RaeTech underwent an Oxebridge Rapid AS9100 Implementation program, starting the effort in August of 2010. The total implementation time used was within the 40-day program window, however the days were spread out over five months to because a thorough registrar selection was undertaken, and scheduling of AS9100 audits is currently complicated (and therefore delayed) due to the rollout of AS9100 Rev C., which is requiring auditors to have their training updated, making them less available for AS9100 Rev B audits.

RaeTech will receive its final AS9100 certificate from AQA upon acceptance of the corrective actions and evidence for the handful of minor nonconformities reported.

Founded in 1978, RaeTech manufacturers complex, machined aerospace parts for customers such as Goodrich-UPCO and Talley Defense Systems. The company is a member of the National Tooling & Machining Association and the Arizona Tooling & Machining Association. The company will soon be expanding into a much larger facility to accommodate increased growth.

Why we report on these topics

Since 2000, Oxebridge has worked to improve ISO and related certification schemes by identifying problems and then proposing solutions. We report on issues affecting standards users because so few other news outlets do. Our belief is that in order to fix the problems in these schemes, we must first understand the nature and breadth of those problems. Our reporting aims to do just that. Elsewhere on the Oxebridge site you will find White Papers and other articles proposing ideas to correct these problems.
