La-Z-Boy’s Senior Quality Manager for Mexican operations, Armando Flores, reached behind the seat cushion and pulled out all the bits of junk he found there, and then published them as if they were facts.
Flores, who brands himself a “Master” of Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement, posted an entirely false and nonsensical summary of the changes coming in ISO 9001:2026, without any regard for the fact that the DIS is now available and anyone can see, with their own eyes, that his information was wholly and irresponsibly wrong.
Flores even created an entire graphic that contains nearly zero truths, claiming that the new standard will include requirements on “software validation,” “automated monitoring systems validation,” “formal risk assessment methodologies,” and “organizational resilience integration.” As you’ve likely already read my teardown of the DIS, none of those things are remotely true.
Worse, Flores then prefaced that with an equally false bit of text that insisted “most companies are NOT ready,” and “digital transformation, climate change, and advanced risk management are becoming core requirements.” Other than the passing reference to the 2024 amendment that lightly name-checks “climate change,” none of that is true, either.
When I confronted Flores on LinkedIn about his misinformation and said he clearly had not read the DIS, he just threw down more falsehoods:
Hi Christopher, thanks for your message. My intention is simply to generate more interest in the quality community around ISO 9001:2026. Since the document is still in draft, it’s not official yet, and I’m not claiming otherwise.
There is nothing irresponsible in sharing reflections or opening up the discussion — I’m not selling anything, just encouraging dialogue. Each professional is free to post their views, and of course others are free to agree or not.
If my content doesn’t resonate with you, that’s perfectly fine, but I hope you can see it for what it is: an effort to raise awareness and engagement in our field.
That was a lie, too. He was absolutely claiming the content was in the draft, going so far as to cite (non-existing) clauses. Then, after Flores saying, “each professional is free to post their views and of course others are free to agree or not,” he deleted my comments and blocked me on LinkedIn. So, no, you are not allowed to disagree with Flores’ made-up fantasies or he will block you.
This is representative of the worst kind of quality professional. They are narcissistic, slathering titles like “Master” on themselves, while knowing nearly nothing. When confronted, they react like 10-year-old children, throwing tantrums and banning anyone who doesn’t reinforce their need for attention.
Again, if you want to know exactly what is in the DIS, read my teardown here and here.
I can’t add a link to Flores’ original post since, as he’s blocked me, I no longer have access to it. I did get the screenshot beforehand, though, since I know how these clowns operate.
