Lima Peru — Oxebridge Quality Resources International celebrated the official opening of its offices in Lima with a seminar at the Hilton Miraflores on “The Future of ISO 9001: Preparing for the Changes in ISO 9001:2015.”

The event was attended by industry experts from Peru’s national standards body INDECOPI, the National Counsel on Science and Technology (CONCYTEC) as well as representatives from more than 30 private companies.

The discussion was led by Oxebridge VP Operations Christopher Paris, who presented a breakdown of the development history to date for ISO 9001:2015, including the problems with the development process. The discussion then reviewed the upcoming High Level Structure changes, and a clause-by-clause review of requirements. The seminar ended with a discussion on problems and benefits of the planned standard, and potential “survival strategies” and cost-reduction methods for companies opting to update their Quality Management Systems to the new standard, when it is published.

Making his case to INDECOPI, Mr. Paris concluded, “Peru is in a unique position to help improve ISO 9001 content in the future, and improve the standard not only for South America, but for the entire world.”

The seminar was offered for free, and funded solely by Oxebridge. Oxebridge plans similar events in the US in early 2014, and at least one webinar. The English language event is titled, “Risky Business: Surviving the Future of ISO 9001.”

Why we report on these topics

Since 2000, Oxebridge has worked to improve ISO and related certification schemes by identifying problems and then proposing solutions. We report on issues affecting standards users because so few other news outlets do. Our belief is that in order to fix the problems in these schemes, we must first understand the nature and breadth of those problems. Our reporting aims to do just that. Elsewhere on the Oxebridge site you will find White Papers and other articles proposing ideas to correct these problems.
