spittakeQuick one, because if I spend too much time thinking about it, I’ll explode. Now some of the ISO 9001 CBs are offering “anti corruption” certifications under the ETHIC Intelligence scheme.

Yes, the same industry actors who reward companies that counterfeit fake certificates in order to obtain illegal access to oil contracts are now certifying others for ethical behavior.

UPDATE 7 MARCH:

It gets better. It seems DNV is one of the Ethics CBs in play, and back in 2012 their own Sidney Vianna published a blog post on “Anti-Corruption and Doing Business in Brazil.” Vianna is Brazilian.

It’s ironic because as Vianna was posting “transparency, social networking, independent media, etc…. not very differently from the Arab Spring, social networking allows the free and rapid discussion of many subjects that entice the population,” he was railing against online participation by those he didn’t like, while reprinting articles without permission and engaging in open defamation and libel.

I suppose if anyone is going to certify companies for anti-corruption, it may as well be those who can recognize corruption first hand?
