As you may know, the previous incarnation of Oxebridge was hit with a serious hack. Our investigation discovered that our previous web host, Web.com (formerly Interland) had left a significant opening in the SQL database that ran that site. Since the purchase of Interland by Web.com, we had noticed a significant dropoff in customer service, and were having difficulties getting even the smallest issues resolved with them. This failure to secure our database proved the last straw.
We have moved our site to a new host, DeepBlueHosting, who we have had great service with previously. We are migrating the entire database to the MySQL-based WordPress format, which — contrary to what some may think — has more robust security than what we had previously. This also means a move to a Linux box server, from the previous Windows Server box. So pardon us while we experience some growing pains.
Meanwhile, we are going through the old database, and manually removing all the offending hacks and implanted viruses. We are stripping the old entries to raw text, deleting the offending strings, and will re-import them into the WordPress database. This will take time, due to the number and length of the articles.
We do plan on dropping many of the client press releases from 2000 – 2006, while keeping the various Oxebridge position papers and news analysis. It’s interesting to see how the quality profession – and our own opinions – have changed over time.
Our priority, however, is getting the very popular “Guidance Documents” back up. This includes the (in)famous Eyesore 9000, which our server data suggests may have more downloads than the actual ISO 9001 standard itself has buyers. (ISO keeps that data secret, so it’s only a guess based on ISO user data.)
So bear with us. Old news and articles will return soon. In the mean time, we will continue to post new items as they come in.
