Blue Ridge GA — Pulse Medical Inc., a provider of protective aprons and eyewear for X-ray technicians and doctors, has successfully maintained its ISO 9001 certification after moving the company from Fort Lauderdale Florida to Blue Ridge Georgia. A recent audit by registrar SGS confirmed the ongoing compliance of the company’s quality system to ISO 9001, as well as to the CE Marking requirements under the European Commission personal protective equipment (PPE) directive.

The move to Blue Ridge was relatively smooth, although subjecting the company to an ISO 9001 audit with a new manufacturing staff and brand-new manufacturing processes could have put the company at risk. An aggressive internal audit program led by Oxebridge ensured that the previous facility in Fort Lauderdale, where Pulse’s x-ray protective eyewear is still manufactured, as well as the new Georgia plant remained in compliance at all times.

The SGS report found no nonconformities, and praised the internal audit efforts.

Pulse expects to finalize its move to Georgia shortly, moving the eyewear lab to the new facility as well. The company has brought many of its experienced Florida employees with it, and is hiring many local operators from the Blue Ridge area, an effort embraced by the local community as a welcome jobs creation opportunity.

Pulse has been certified to ISO 9001 since 2006, and has maintained CE Mark for products shipped to Europe since that time as well.

Why we report on these topics

Since 2000, Oxebridge has worked to improve ISO and related certification schemes by identifying problems and then proposing solutions. We report on issues affecting standards users because so few other news outlets do. Our belief is that in order to fix the problems in these schemes, we must first understand the nature and breadth of those problems. Our reporting aims to do just that. Elsewhere on the Oxebridge site you will find White Papers and other articles proposing ideas to correct these problems.
