The problems facing ISO 9001 and related certifications are serious. ISO certified companies are releasing products that injure or kill consumers, while registrars and Accreditation Bodies ignore rules designed to ensure the trust and value of the certification scheme.

So as serious as you think some online gossip is, there are more important things you can be doing with your time. Here are a few that may benefit end users and the public at large, and which might even save some lives.

  • Write to the US TAG and demand revision to their leadership election rules to allow basic democratic principles, such as nomination of competing candidates, open debate by candidates, and fair elections.
  • Write to the US TAG and demand that the ISO 9001:2015 standard not be ratified by ANSI until changes can be made to improve the standard, and to object over the failure of TC 176 to comply with consensus rules in the development of 9001.
  • Write to ANAB and demand they hold CBs accountable to ISO 17021, and to cite them with nonconformities when they fail to do so.
  • Write to CASCO and demand that they roll back the change to ISO 17021-1 that eliminated the need for CBs to have a public registry of their clients, so that the public can once again verify valid certificates.
  • Write to ANSI and demand that ANAB be investigated for improper execution of its duties under ISO 17011, so that trust and value can be restored for management system certifications.

Or, failing that, take up GTA V.
