I’ve already come out against this ridiculous SN9001 standard created out of thin air by Smithers Quality Assessments and the American Snow Contractors Association, but I decided to attempt to confront the shysters pushing this scheme directly, taking to their own forum board to present the counter argument to their claims that SN9001 will result in reduced insurance premiums and less litigation.
Here’s the forum link. Feel free to jump in and throw some snowballs.
When you’re done there, read Smithers’ VP Jeanette Preston’s confusing, Escheresque piece on SN9001, where she simultaneously claims, “ISO 9001 applies to all industries and is all inclusive” and yet you should nevertheless spend extra money to buy into SN9001, specific to the snow and ice management industry.
A 2nd piece on SN9001 is coming up, with more industry views, updates on registrars, and more.
