The International Aerospace Quality Group’s (IAQG) portal for managing AS9100 and related audits, called OASIS, is still not functioning, despite a deadline to have the site fixed last week.

The IAQG is rolling out OASIS version 3, and the original launch was set for the first two weeks of July. The launch revealed problems, however, and a “maintenance” update notice was published on July 19th announcing that the problems would not likely be fixed until July 24th.

A subsequent update notice claimed the site would “soft launch” for key users on July 27th. However, as of August 1, the site remains down, and users are greeted with an error message saying, “We apologize for the delay, but we are still finalizing a small amount of data. Stay tuned for more details.”

The official status page has not been updated since July 26th, so information on when the latest problems will be fixed has not been released.

AS9100 certified clients now face losing their certification as auditors cannot enter audit reports, nor process audit nonconformities. The IAQG has never established any rules allowing for “tolling” the automatic expiration dates on AS9100 certifications to account for technical problems brought on by certification bodies or the IAQG itself.

The IAQG and IAF have published rules, however, demanding that certificates undergo annual surveillance or recertification audits within a set number of months or a client’s certification can be withdrawn. “Withdrawn” clients must then re-apply for AS9100 as if they are a new client, undergoing a longer — and more expensive — two-stage “initial audit.”

The IAQG has refused common-sense calls to create rules allowing for tolling certificate expiration dates in such cases.

OASIS has now been down for more than one month, since a “data entry freeze” was imposed on June 30.

The outage affects companies certified to AS9100, AS9110, and AS9120.
