TMB

The ISO Technical Management Board, or TMB, is a high-level bureaucratic body within ISO that oversees the activities of all standards development committees, including TC 176.

Within the universe of THE AUDITOR, the TMB is led by Dick Hortensius of the Netherlands.

The TMB is responsible for the “Annex SL” text which is forcibly included in ISO 9001, negating the need for either TC 176 or the US TAG 176 to participate at all in standards development.  They hold ultimate power in the ISO standards development world, and demand loyalty upon pain of death. The leadership of TC 176 is terrified of the TMB.

These characters are based on real public figures, and satirized for the purposes of humor and social commentary. The depiction within the strip is not to be construed as based on fact.

Why we report on these topics

Since 2000, Oxebridge has worked to improve ISO and related certification schemes by identifying problems and then proposing solutions. We report on issues affecting standards users because so few other news outlets do. Our belief is that in order to fix the problems in these schemes, we must first understand the nature and breadth of those problems. Our reporting aims to do just that. Elsewhere on the Oxebridge site you will find White Papers and other articles proposing ideas to correct these problems.
