The release of ISO 9001:2008 has brought with it some confusion, and Oxebridge is happy to clarify the state of this latest standard, and to offer fast, low-cost assistance in upgrading documentation for those companies currently compliant to ISO 9001:2000.
Making matters worse are the hordes of “traditional consultants” offering training courses, books, and full on-site training seminars on the alleged “new requirements” of ISO 9001:2008. Be wary of such claims, as they do not reflect the actual truth, and can result in thousands of dollars of wasted money on services or training that are completely unnecessary.
The new standard is not a revision, but an “amendment” — this distinction is critical. There are no new requirements, only clarifications and additional explanatory notes. What this means is that companies who are currently compliant or certified to ISO 9001:2000 need to nothing to continue to comply with the 2008 version. For those companies certified by an accredited registrar, they will find their next certificate to automatically read “ISO 901:2008″ after their next surveillance audit.
However, some companies — especially those that have carefully aligned their Quality Manual or other quality system documentation with the wording and numbering of ISO 9001:2000 — may wish to upgrade their documentation to include the new language. For such companies, Oxebridge offers a $500 flat-fee documentation upgrade service.
This $500 service includes the following:
- Updating Quality Manual
- Updating top-level procedures
- Updating internal audit checklists
- A brief primer on the changes made, to be used for employee training if desired
This upgrade service has been designed by an actual member of the US Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC 176, the committee responsible for authoring the ISO 9001:2008 standard.
Clients must submit their documentation to Oxebridge via email, in editable format, along with a copy of their latest ISO 9001 registration certificate (if the company is certified).
This service is only available to those companies already compliant or certified to ISO 9001:2000.
