{"id":33094,"date":"2025-11-19T18:01:01","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T23:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/?p=33094"},"modified":"2025-11-19T18:01:01","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T23:01:01","slug":"as9100-update-new-ia9100-to-have-frequent-smaller-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/as9100-update-new-ia9100-to-have-frequent-smaller-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"AS9100 Update: New IA9100 to Have &#8220;Frequent, Smaller Updates&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The upcoming revision to AS9100, to be rebranded as &#8220;<em>IA9100<\/em>,&#8221; will have &#8220;<em>frequent, smaller updates<\/em>&#8221; according to a newsletter published by PRI, the administrators of the Nadcap special process accreditation program.<\/p>\n<p>PRI released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.p-r-i.org\/news-articles\/press-release\/standard-revisions\">brief news summary<\/a> on &#8220;<em>Major updates to ISO and Aerospace Standards<\/em>&#8221; that included the blink-and-you&#8217;ll-miss-it claim, while admitting that PRI is &#8220;<em>waiting for more information about the changes<\/em>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/ia9100updatepri.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-33095\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/ia9100updatepri.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a>Unlike ISO, publisher SAE and developer IAQG are not required to wait for international consensus or ISO member voting to release an update to their aerospace standards.<\/p>\n<p>The notion of &#8220;<em>frequent, smaller updates<\/em>&#8221; may raise challenges for AS9100-certified companies, who will have to implement changes as they are released, potentially moving the goalposts for conformity at a greater frequency.<\/p>\n<p>PRI also announced that AS9104\/1 will be updated as IA9104\/1, and will introduce new requirements for AS9100 certification bodies. This includes: verifying on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, and quality at all future audits; recalculating the minimum audit duration; and yet another attempt to redefine &#8220;<em>campus<\/em>&#8221; structures for companies with more than one facility. IAQG has struggled with the latter issue, having already made two or three changes to &#8220;<em>campus<\/em>&#8221; considerations with each update of AS9104\/1.<\/p>\n<p>IAQG has largely ignored end-user feedback on the AS standards,\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">recognizing only its member &#8220;<em>aerospace primes<\/em>&#8221; as customers for<\/span> AS9100 certification.
