{"id":30377,"date":"2024-07-05T13:55:12","date_gmt":"2024-07-05T17:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/?p=30377"},"modified":"2024-07-05T13:55:12","modified_gmt":"2024-07-05T17:55:12","slug":"microsoft-caught-referring-us-defense-companies-to-china-for-tech-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/microsoft-caught-referring-us-defense-companies-to-china-for-tech-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Caught Referring US Defense Companies to China for Tech Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over at LinkedIn, the DoD&#8217;s Acquisition Program Manager, Prescott Paulin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/prescott_dod-china-defense-activity-7214455612494016513-gPeu?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop\">posted a damning video<\/a> showing Microsoft referred him to a Chinese call center when he had problems accessing his &#8220;<em>defense-related accounts after hours<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30378\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/prescottpaulin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/prescottpaulin.jpg 826w, https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/prescottpaulin-150x145.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/prescottpaulin-156x150.jpg 156w, https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/prescottpaulin-768x740.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/prescottpaulin-560x540.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the video, Paulin speaks with a Chinese operator who informs him that, yes, he&#8217;s been routed to a call center in that country.<\/p>\n<p>Now let&#8217;s go back and remember how Microsoft&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/wakeman\">Richard Wakeman<\/a> invented 15 minutes of fame for himself by shilling for CMMC, telling small defense industry companies they would need to mortgage their grandmother&#8217;s homes to pay for CMMC assessments.\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Then, about ten minutes later, Wakeman&#8217;s own Azure department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/calling-the-wakeman-microsoft-shills-for-cmmc-but-cant-manage-its-own-cybersecurity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was hacked by China<\/a> because you can&#8217;t make this stuff up.<\/span>\u00a0Wakeman is still milking those CMMC events for fame, though, because &#8212; let&#8217;s face it &#8212; he&#8217;s not going to be invited to San Diego Comicon any time soon, so he might as well take what&#8217;s given to him.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft has made a lot of noise about cybersecurity for other people, but can&#8217;t get its own house in order. The DoD isn&#8217;t much better, and Paulin should be telling his bosses to cut their losses on CMMC before they get the entire defense industrial base hacked and\/or bankrupted.<\/p>\n<p>Clicking the Paulin video is worth it, however, because it&#8217;s just really, really bad.
