{"id":27228,"date":"2022-09-22T11:56:28","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T15:56:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/?p=27228"},"modified":"2022-09-25T12:09:57","modified_gmt":"2022-09-25T16:09:57","slug":"iso-publishes-guidance-for-standards-writters-sic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/iso-publishes-guidance-for-standards-writters-sic\/","title":{"rendered":"ISO Publishes Guidance for Standards &#8220;Writters&#8221; (Sic)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISO&#8217;s Committee on Conformity assessment (CASCO) has published a document on standards development that contains, its own text, various grammatical errors.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, no one likes a grammar Nazi, but I think in this case we can make an exception because it&#8217;s funny, and because it&#8217;s ISO.<\/p>\n<p>The ISO CASCO document &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/isotc.iso.org\/livelink\/livelink?func=ll&amp;objId=17035310&amp;objAction=Open&amp;nexturl=%2Flivelink%2Flivelink%3Ffunc%3Dll%26objId%3D8853520%26objAction%3Dbrowse%26sort%3Dname%26viewType%3D1\"><em>Conformity Assessment for Standards Writers &#8211; Do&#8217;s and Don&#8217;ts<\/em><\/a> &#8221; starts off with a grammatical mistake right in its title. The apostraphe in the word &#8220;Do&#8217;s&#8221; doesn&#8217;t belong there. The <a href=\"https:\/\/grammarpartyblog.com\/2011\/04\/15\/the-dos-and-donts-of-dos-and-donts\/\">proper spelling is &#8220;Dos and Don&#8217;ts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But the thing that really got my attentoin was the PDF filename for the document, where they couldn&#8217;t even spell the word &#8220;<em>writers<\/em>&#8221; correctly.
