The company was found responsible for<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2016_Vietnam_marine_life_disaster\"> illegal dumping of chemical waste<\/a> into the ocean, resulting in the death of huge quantities of marine life, which then affected the region&#8217;s fishing industry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/news-18-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-17928\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/news-18-01.jpg\" alt=\"Formosa Ha Tinh Steel ISO 9001 certificate\" width=\"306\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/news-18-01.jpg 1519w, https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/news-18-01-150x83.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/news-18-01-768x426.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.oxebridge.com\/emma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/news-18-01-1080x599.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 306px) 100vw, 306px\" \/><\/a>The certificate appears to have been issued in 2018, after the disaster for which the Taiwanese parent company Formosa Plastic Group paid over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vir.com.vn\/formosa-fined-for-fish-deaths-43140.html\">$500 million<\/a> in compensation to the Vietnamese government for cleanup operations.
