Hello.  Please be gentle, this is my first post!

I have used the COTO log from the kit (which is fantastic – thank you!) but I have 2 questions that have arisen during use.

1. Is a reason why we don’t have a column for the date that any issue is placed on the list?  Or when it goes onto the risk or opportunity register?

2. When an issue has ‘gone away’ for whatever reason, how is it best to deal with this?  Leave it on the list with a ‘closed’ comment, hide it, delete it, move it to another tab?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

To be honest, the COTO Log concept is better suited for a database, not a flat spreadsheet. I could add suitable features using macros but not everyone wants an Excel sheet with code behind the scenes, as they cause false virus alerts. They also break easy.

What I do is take a snapshot of the COTO Log periodically and then save it, say at a Management Review event. Then, at the next event, you update the log (add/subtract risks, adjust ratings, etc.) and take a new snapshot. If anyone want so to know how things have progressed, they can compare snapshots.

There’s probably a more elegant solution, but it will complicate the sheet. I’ve already got a new version with some automated features using pure formulae (issues on one tab auto-populate the risk or opp register, etc.) but it’s got a TON of hidden sheets in use to make it work, and thus it becomes really easy for the average user to break.
