Midwest Roadside Safety Facility Nears ISO 17025 Audit

Lincoln NE — The University of Nebraska Lincoln’s Midwest Roadside Safety Facility (MwRSF) is nearing completion of its ISO 17025 implementation program, performed by Oxebridge. MwRSF is one of the nation’s leading crash test and safety data analysis providers for roadside barriers and traffic control devices.  Under the accreditation rules, clients pursuing ISO 17025 must complete their implementation before applying for an accreditation audit; MwRSF will be submitting its application to the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) shortly.

ISO 17025 is a quality management system standard similar to ISO 9001, but one designed specifically for test or calibration laboratories. The requirements are much stricter than ISO 9001, and implementation is much more difficult, requiring most labs to contract with a implementation provider like Oxebridge in order to properly develop the system. The standard requires labs to undergo interlaboratory comparisons as a means of providing evidence of proficiency, and all methods used must be rigorously validated and statistically valid.
