Hampton VA — Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA), an aerospace engineering firm supporting NASA and the US aerospace industry, has begun a Rapid AS9100 Implementation with Oxebridge Quality Resources. Because much of AMA’s work is software-based, or actual software development, Oxebridge is basing portions of the AS9100 system on the guidance document AS9006, which interprets AS9100 for usage in a software development environment. Other elements of AMA’s system will be based purely on AS9100, which is heavily hardware-biased.
Oxebridge is also working with a third party CMMi provider to simultaneously assist in implementation of that standard, in a way that integrates the AS9100 requirements into the resulting CMMi system, for select AMA projects.
Despite the complexity of the AMA system and its broad range of services, Oxebridge is performing a Rapid AS9100 Implementation; the target date for completion, and third-party certification of the final AS9100 system is October or November 2008. AMA has elected an ANAB-accredited AS9100 registrar to conduct the final compliance audit, but the awarded company was not announced as of press time.
AMA provides engineering services, IT support services, and business analytics to NASA departments and programs, as well as other aerospace organizations. The company has worked on projects for NASA including the Hyper-X scramjet, the Orion lunar exploration vehicle and the Constellation shuttle replacement program.
With the AMA contract, Oxebridge continues its history of providing AS9100 and related aerospace quality management system implementation services to cutting edge US aerospace organizations. Oxebridge has implemented ISO 9001 at Space Explorations Technologies (SpaceX) and is currently planning to upgrade that system to AS9100. Other Oxebridge aerospace clients include Titan Corporation/L3 Communications, JetBlue Airways LiveTV, as well as tier one suppliers to Rolly Royce, Honeywell, Airbus, and Lockheed Martin.
